The Labour Inspectorate in short
The Labour Inspectorate (Arbeidsinspectie) is part of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment and is comprised of 3 departments (see the organisational chart.)
The Labour Inspectorate promotes compliance with labour protection laws and combats labour market fraud. Its priority is tackling serious violations of the law.
The Labour Inspectorate’s working area includes all companies and commercial and non-commercial (private and public) establishments in the Netherlands.

- Supervision of Working Hours (Working Hours Act)
- Supervision of Foreign Nationals (Employment) (Foreign Nationals [Employment] Act)
- Major Hazard Control (The Major Accidents [Risk] Decree 1999)
- Supervision of the Minimum Wage and Minimum Holiday Allowance Act (Minimum Wage and Minimum Holiday Allowance Act)
- Investigating industrial accidents
- Investigating complaints by employees about their working conditions, working hours or payment below the statutory minimum wage
